JACQUARD WEAVE

The Jacquard is a device which uses stiff punch cards similar to the reels in mechanical music boxes to lift the warp threads according to the design pattern. It has been predominantly combined with power looms, but in these centres it has been attached to a hand loom. Since the device lifts the threads it facilitates extreme intricacy within motif - an element that always shines in pieces from these sectors.

Design and Innovation

  • KANJEEVARAM
In Kanjeevaram, Gaurang’s design journey is a thoughtful fusion of heritage and contemporary vision. He has dedicated significant time and care to reviving traditional temple motifs, which had been largely set aside in favor of larger, simpler designs that allowed faster weaving.

By bringing back ancient techniques—such as weaving with 8-ply silk yarn for richer texture, employing three shuttles on the loom to create striking contrasts, and using pure 5-gram gold zari—Gaurang has restored the exquisite craftsmanship that defines true Kanjeevaram sarees.

At the same time, he has introduced new colour palettes, innovative motifs, and delicate yarns like Organza, Khadi, and Chiffon, crafting sarees that honor the majesty of the past while exploring the possibilities of the future. The result is a collection that is both timeless and forward-looking—celebrating the art of weaving as a living, evolving tradition.
